What We Know About The 2025 Compass EV While there has been no official reveal, there are plans for a first look before the end of the year ahead of the 2025 launch in Europe. We know that Jeep has plenty of resources to make a stellar electric vehicle and the Compass EV could be the company’s ace to revitalizing the Jeep brand. The new 2025 Compass EV is said to be offered in hybrid, PHEV, and all-electric options after its predicted November reveal, per their ‘ Freedom of Choice’ strategy that expands their powertrain options while keeping traditional vehicles for those not ready to make the change to electric. The Compass EV will be based on the STLA Medium platform which claims a 435-mile range. Jeep may be prioritizing the European market for its electric rebrand beginning with the Compass, but the sales growing brand-wide may see its release in the North American market as well. The decision makes a lot of sense, especially with the United States’ growing EV charging infrastructure and various federal incentives for drivers to make the change. 2025 Jeep Compass – Available Now! After its initial announcement in September 2022, the Wagoneer S EV is now prepared for its debut. Here are the key stats of Jeep’s inaugural electric vehicle and what that could mean for the brand's future in EVs. Jeep’s Wagoneer S Electric Vehicle The Wagoneer S is not messing around with its specs. For the launch edition, the Wagoneer S offers over 300 miles on a single charge, a 600-hp powertrain capable of 0-60 in 3.4 seconds, and all-wheel drive. Jeep’s Electric Breakthrough Following the launch of the Wagoneer S, Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares revealed that Jeep is developing a $25,000 EV. This forthcoming compact SUV, drawing comparisons to the European Citroën ë-C3 also priced at around $25,000, is anticipated to align with American market preferences for enhanced power and range. While the Citroën features 113 horsepower and under 200 miles of range, these figures are expected to increase to meet the demands of the American market. Beyond the initial investment in EVs, Jeep also intends to boost plug-in hybrid SUV sales by around 50% in 2024. This year, the coliseum is re-opening its doors. That's right: gladiators are making a comeback. This Thanksgiving, director Ridley Scott is serving up Gladiator 2, the long-awaited follow-up to 2000’s Best Picture winner Gladiator. Starring Paul Mescal and Pedro Pascal, we’ll see if the historical epic resonates with audiences the same way its hit predecessor did nearly a quarter century ago. But in the meantime, Jeep is releasing the year’s most anticipated Gladiator sequel: the new and improved 2024 Jeep Gladiator. Putting on a Show There's a surplus of off-road-centric, mid-size trucks on the market, but the Jeep Gladiator has developed a reputation based on its uniqueness. Its singular four-wheel drive system and suspension are designed to thrive on off-road conditions. It’s one of the only pickups to offer a six-speed manual transmission. The Jeep Recon and Wagoneer S are far from Jeep's first forays into the alternate energy space. The brand has been offering plug-in hybrid versions of its most popular models for years, with the Jeep Wrangler 4xe becoming the best-selling plug-in hybrid in both North America and Europe. But the Recon and Wagoneer S EVs are Jeep's first fully electric offerings, and their arrival is nearly upon us. Here at Savage L&B, we're preparing for the new EVs to arrive by the end of the year. As anticipation grows, here's everything we currently know about both of these exciting electric vehicles. Charge Me Mama, Like a Wagoneer Following Stellantis's unexpected update on eight new electric vehicles last week, leaked images of the upcoming Wagoneer S EV started appearing online. We already knew the Wagoneer S would be an exclusively all-electric vehicle, but now we have some additional details on the premium, midsize SUV. The electric Wagoneer will be approximately as large as the current two-row Grand Cherokee. The exterior is outfitted with a state-of-the-art, LED-lit grille. Jeep insists the "S" in Wagoneer S stands for speed, and indeed the Wagoneer can fly, jumping from zero to 60 in under four seconds. Around 400 miles of EPA-estimated range is expected, ensuring an abundance of charge for longer trips. The Wagoneer S also delivers up to 600 horsepower. Early images of the interior reveal a typically luxurious, spacious cabin. Multicolored ambient lighting creates a soothing atmosphere during your trip. The dashboard has a total of four(!) screens, including dual central touchscreens and a passenger-facing touchscreen. The Wagoneer S also boasts a 19-speaker McIntosh audio system. It's everything you've come to expect from an SUV made by Jeep... minus the gas tank. Off-Road Adventuring Redefined Of the two EVs, the Recon is closer to what you imagine from a "traditional" Jeep. The Recon is modeled after the Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid (the Recon name having been previously used for a Wrangler variant). While the Wagoneer S EV may prevail as the SUV of choice for the everyday man or woman, the boxy Recon is geared towards outdoor enthusiasts eager to explore the full capabilities of electric, off-road vehicles. Certain key specs such as range have yet to be divulged, but we know a bit of what to expect. In true Jeep fashion, the Recon includes removable doors and a power-folding rooftop, inviting the fresh air to join in on all your electric adventuring. Jeep's Selec-Terrain traction management system is also included, as are off-road tires, e-locker axle technology, and under-body protection. Send Gas to the Past Jeep's stated goal is to become the global leader in electrified SUVs. By 2030, Stellantis expects the entirety of Jeep's North American and European sales to come from EVs. Although they still months away from their U.S. debuts, it appears that the Recon and Wagoneer S EVs represent the first stages of a much larger plan. Jeep Brand Electrified Portfolio in North America Building upon the success of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe, the best-selling plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) in the U.S., and the recently introduced Grand Cherokee 4xe, the brand is developing a comprehensive electrified product range specifically developed to enhance the brand’s legendary capability and expanding its reach in North America. “With the continuous expansion of the 4xe technology across our entire portfolio, we are redefining freedom and adventure in a way that only the Jeep brand can,” said Jim Morrison, head of Jeep brand North America. “By the end of 2025, our full lineup will be electrified, including four all-electric vehicles competing in the heart of the marketplace.” This electrification plan will also expand the Wagoneer portfolio. The All-new Jeep Recon: 100% Jeep; 100% Zero Emission One of the first all-new electric SUVs that will launch in North America is the Jeep Recon. This all-new vehicle is aimed at those who love to explore extreme adventures in near silence with a rugged, fully electric vehicle package. The Jeep Recon is designed from the ground up to be 100% Jeep 4x4 and 100% zero emission. An All-new, All-electric Wagoneer – The Art of American Premium The Wagoneer family is also set to grow with an all-new SUV. Code-named Wagoneer S, this fully electric vehicle will continue to expand the brand’s presence in the premium SUV segment by offering a unique, sleek, aerodynamic design and 4x4 capability as standard, with all-terrain management, advanced Jeep brand-focused technology and impressive performance credentials. This new, all-electric, global SUV will be offered exclusively as a BEV, targeting a range of 400 miles on a single charge, 600 hp and a 0-60 mph time of around 3.5 seconds. All-new Jeep Avenger, the First-ever Fully Electric Jeep SUV, Arrives in Europe in 2023 In Europe, the Jeep brand has already made a big shift by offering only electrified SUVs in countries such as Germany and France.  By the end of this year, 100% of the Jeep SUV portfolio will be electrified in almost all of the European markets. The plan revealed today builds upon this 4xe momentum, developing a portfolio of capable, fully electric vehicles designed and rightsized for Europe. The brand will introduce four zero-emission vehicles in Europe by 2025, with offerings in the main volume segments. As a result of this product onslaught, all the Jeep vehicles on sale in the region will be 100% electric by 2030. The first model of this product offensive is the all-new, all-electric Jeep Avenger, a compact SUV that was presented during the Stellantis Dare Forward long-term strategic plan earlier this year. The all-new Jeep Avenger, to be introduced in Europe and other markets, such as Japan and South Korea, will be positioned under the Jeep Renegade and will be produced in the high-efficiency plant in Tychy, Poland. The motor generator spins the engine for nearly seamless, fuel-saving, start-stop operation and generates electricity for the battery pack. The second high-voltage motor generator is much more powerful. Mounted at the front of the transmission case, this large e-motor is key for pure electric operation of the Wrangler Willys 4xe. It Was Designed in Two Days As World War II raged on, the United States began planning to join the fight. As a part of these plans, the U.S. Army realized its fleet of Ford Model T’s wouldn’t be able to survive the war nor be efficient. That is when the Army began to search for a small, lightweight, four-wheel-drive vehicle that could handle anything the war threw at it. Just a few short days after beginning the search, the Bantam truck company won the bid and began designing the future Jeep on July 17th, 1940. Two days after Bantam began designing the vehicle, Karl Probst turned in a design that would become the iconic Jeep. By the 22nd of the month, Bantam had sent the design and proposal to the U.S. Government and secured the contract to begin building Jeeps for the U.S. Army. Such an incredible turnaround time on a car design is absolutely unheard of these days, which simply adds to the aura of the legendary Jeep brand. Ford Designed the Iconic Grille Although Bantam had won the bid to design the Jeep, the company was incapable of mass-producing the quantity needed by the Army. That is why both Ford and Willys were brought into the fold in order to help out Bantam with production. During this mutual partnership, Ford helped design the iconic flat front grill that Jeep owners have come to know and love. Surprisingly this design choice wasn’t made for aesthetics, but for practicality and ease of production. The “Pygmy” was the prototype design for the Jeep and it was originally designed with a flat 13-slot front grille, however, that design was changed quickly, with nine slots being donned on the front. By 1945, the Pygmy was finished and featured the now-iconic seven-slot front grille. A Jeep Earned a Purple Heart Yes, you read that right. The Jeep is the ONLY vehicle in American history to have been awarded a Purple Heart — and it’s earned two of them! A Marine Corps Jeep was awarded the prestigious military award after taking heavy fire in Guadalcanal during World War II. It was the first vehicle to have landed on the beach during an invasion and it paid the price, ending its days of service with two bullet holes in the windshield. The “CJ” Model Name Stands for “Civilian Jeep” With Jeep being born out of military necessity, it is no wonder some of the military ways have become engrained in the Jeep DNA ever since. One example of this is the first publicly available Jeep, the CJ-2A which stood for Civilian Jeep.
